LNER Class J83, 0-6-0 Tank Loco
PROTOTYPE. This class of 40 locomotives were designed by Holmes and built for the North British Railway in 1900. The locomotives had a number of minor alterations over the years and parts are included in the kit to cover these. The last member of the class was withdrawn in 1962

These locomotives were employed on a wide variety of duties ranging from shunting and short distance goods trips to branchline passenger and station pilot work. A number of the class worked Edinburgh Waverley station as pilot engines and were turned out in smart lined green livery.

KIT. The body is mainly brass with a nickel silver chassis. A nice level of detail including cab interior is provided. The instructions are very comprehensive and consist of the original Majestic exploded drawings complemented by a written text describing step by step how I built a sample of the kit.

If these are desired as an alternative to the wire wiper pickups that are included in the kit. I would recommend the type produced by Slater's and provision is made in the kit chassis for fitting these (Slater's Cat No 7157).
